Does ContactsLaw treat e-mail templates specially?
ContactsLaw has a number of specialisations for handling document templates which are e-mails. In some cases, different behaviour is exhibited, while in others, additional features are available:
- It is not necessary to insert placeholder fields in the To, CC and BCC sections within the template; ContactsLaw will automatically recognise these and add them to the list of fields you can map to. Additionally, the document template editor will attempt to automatically map these fields to the appropriate values from the addressee, CC and BCC roles. For correspondence templates, it is usually not necessary to alter these mappings.
- It is generally not necessary to send e-mail documents using the dedicated 'send document' activity, as attachments are added automatically and the e-mail can be sent directly from document creation or document finalisation.
- When e-mail templates are used for mass mailouts, ContactsLaw assumes that the documents can be generated with no user intervention, thus defaults to sending the message immediately after creation.
